Valor Mortis on Steam: release, requirements and combat preparation

Updated 3 min readBy GameRadar Editorial

Valor Mortis is released on Steam. Check its SSD and graphics requirements, then plan a first session around parries, movement and exploration.

Valor Mortis on Steam: released, not a future demo

Valor Mortis released on Steam on October 13, 2026. One More Level develops the first-person action soulslike, with Lyrical Games and One More Level listed as publishers. The current store offers the game for purchase; an older demo announcement should not be used as its release status.

The official site describes demanding combat and metroidvania-inspired levels in an alternate nineteenth-century Europe. This is a source-based preparation guide checked October 20, not a claim that we completed the game. We separate published requirements from measured performance and suggested practice from a tested boss strategy.

Check the PC requirements before choosing settings

Steam lists Windows 10/11, 16 GB RAM and an SSD with 60 GB available space. Its minimum GPU examples are a GTX 1660 Ti or RX 5600 XT; the listed minimum target is 1080p at 30 FPS on Low with upscaling. The recommended examples include an RTX 3070 or RX 6800 for a stated 1440p Medium target with upscaling.

Those targets are the developer’s published guidance, not guaranteed results on every combination of hardware. Compare the complete live requirements with your own CPU, GPU and storage before buying or downloading. A graphics-card name alone does not establish how your whole system will perform.

Our recommendation is to start with settings appropriate to the listed tier, then assess readability and consistency in the same short section. Change one option at a time. Keep resolution and upscaling in your notes; two frame-rate reports are not comparable if those differ. Do not install unofficial executable replacements to chase a promised performance gain.

Learn defense and movement before chasing damage

The Steam description names parries, dashes, finishers, weapons and supernatural abilities. The official site also emphasizes the first-person perspective and a mix of melee and ranged tools. That establishes the combat vocabulary, not the timing window of a specific enemy attack.

A useful first-session exercise is to observe one opponent long enough to distinguish its approach from its strike. Test one defensive response, then identify why the attempt succeeded or failed. Avoid changing your weapon and your defensive habit simultaneously, or you may attribute the improvement to the wrong choice.

This is our practice recommendation, not a frame-data claim. We have not measured invulnerability, parry timing or damage multipliers. An older video from the demo may also show a different build, so check its date before assuming a discrepancy is a bug in your installation.

Explore with a question, and keep the spoiler level low

The developer describes environmental secrets and mobility as part of survival. When a route stops making sense, note the barrier and which movement or interaction you have actually tried. That is a better starting point than assuming a named item from a speculative guide must be nearby.

Give yourself a clear objective for each attempt: learn the enemy’s approach, reach a recognizable landmark or test a new tool. A failed attempt can still answer that question. It does not justify an invented “best early build” whose equipment locations have never been verified.

If you need help, search for the particular obstacle rather than opening a full ending walkthrough. Check that a guide uses the released version and the correct game. For a different exploration-focused October release, see Castlevania Belmont’s Curse; for a camp-and-crafting loop, see Deep Dish Dungeon. These are related reading choices, not assertions that their mechanics or progression carry into Valor Mortis.
