WoW Forever stress test: ended window versus extended beta

Updated 3 min readBy GameRadar Editorial

The WoW Forever stress test has ended. Check the revised regional windows, extended beta deadline, client selection and character-wipe distinction.

The stress test and beta are different windows

The WoW Forever stress-test windows announced for October 21 have ended by October 22’s morning UTC check. Blizzard’s later staff schedule also extends the separate beta to October 23 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time, or 17:00 UTC. An extended beta does not mean the public stress test remains open to everyone.

Blizzard’s original news article was updated to move the test from October 19 to October 21. That is why an older cached schedule can disagree with a newer staff post. Use the updated publisher information and your region’s window rather than assuming every reference to “the test” describes the same access period.

Read the regional schedule correctly

The staff post schedules North America for October 21 from 2–6 p.m. Pacific, equivalent to 5–9 p.m. Eastern. Europe’s window is October 21 at 19:00 CEST through 03:00 CEST on October 22, or 18:00–02:00 British Summer Time. Taipei’s listed window is October 22 from 05:00–09:00, and Seoul’s is 06:00–10:00.

These are historical stress-test windows, not a promise of access when this guide is opened later. Their local dates differ because of timezone offsets. The European end and several Asian/Pacific end times converge on October 22 at 01:00 UTC; North America’s listed end is earlier. Do not mistake an October 22 local date for a second full day of public testing.

For the beta’s planned close, October 23 at 10:00 PDT converts to 13:00 EDT and 17:00 UTC. Read any subsequent official update before making a last-session plan. Player replies asking for another extension are requests, not evidence that Blizzard granted one.

What free stress-test eligibility did—and did not—mean

Blizzard says the stress test did not require an active subscription, game time, an invitation or existing beta access. That statement applied to the named stress-test window. It should not be stretched into a claim that every account now has unrestricted access to the reopened ordinary beta.

The official installation path uses Battle.net: select World of Warcraft, open the game-version menu, look under In Development and select Forever Stress Test when available. A missing or closed test option after its window is not automatically a broken installation. Do not reinstall the live game or buy something merely because an expired test is no longer selectable.

If you do have beta access, check the ordinary beta’s current selection and notices separately. The names of two clients can look similar while their eligibility and schedule differ. Keep screenshots or notes about the exact version selected when reporting a problem, rather than describing every Battle.net entry as the same server.

Do not treat test progress as permanent reservation

Blizzard says stress-test characters, names and guilds are wiped. A name used successfully during that test is not a permanent launch reservation, and a high-level test character is not a promise of retained launch progression. Plan around the stated wipe rather than investing effort under the opposite assumption.

The useful purpose of a stress session is exercising the service and reporting what happened. If you captured a problem, preserve the client version, region, approximate time and exact symptom. A loading failure at a scheduled test boundary has a different context from a reproducible gameplay bug during an open window.

This guide does not supply a new launch date or sell access. It resolves the immediate search question: the public stress test is over, while the separately extended beta has its own planned October 23 close and eligibility. For another version-sensitive PC issue, see Geode’s current compatibility status; for a storefront interruption rather than a test client, use our Steam E502 checklist.

Frequently asked questions

Can anyone join the stress test now?
The announced October 21 regional stress windows have ended. Free eligibility during that event does not create permanent beta access.
When does the extended beta close?
The checked Blizzard staff post gives October 23 at 10:00 PDT, equivalent to 17:00 UTC. Check for later official changes before relying on that deadline.
Why do some pages say October 19?
Blizzard updated its announcement to move the stress test to October 21. Cached or older versions can retain the original date.
Will my stress-test name or character carry over?
Blizzard says characters, names and guilds from the stress test are wiped. Do not treat them as launch progression or permanent name reservation.
