TROLLHEIM: GNOMES: playtest, release status and co-op planning
TROLLHEIM: GNOMES is still coming soon on Steam. Distinguish its playtest request from release, review the planned eight-player survival scope and check expectations.
Can you buy or play the released game now?
The Steam page checked on October 23, 2026 lists TROLLHEIM: GNOMES as Coming soon, with a separate Request Access option for its playtest. It credits Trollheim and Off-leash Interactive as developers and Trollheim and Fireshine Games as publishers. A playtest request is not a completed purchase or proof that every requester can immediately join.
We have not been admitted to the test or played a session. This guide distinguishes the store's stated development plans from released features and offers a way to evaluate them. Do not read an Early Access description written in the present tense as proof that the public launch has happened. The same page explicitly says the game is not yet available on Steam.
Understand what the planned survival loop emphasizes
The developer describes a tiny gnome exploring a Nordic-folklore forest, gathering resources, crafting, cooking and building a home. Cold, hunger and creatures called Väsen are part of the planned setting. Some creatures are described as friendly and others dangerous; that is not a universal instruction to fight or recruit every encounter.
Our recommendation is to decide which part interests your group before requesting a test: building, exploration, survival pressure or meeting creatures. A shared theme does not mean everyone wants the same pace. We do not provide unverified recipes, a safest creature list or a first-day route. Promotional descriptions establish the intended activities, not their exact current balance or a guaranteed sequence of discoveries.
Eight players means a total, not eight additional friends
Steam advertises solo play or a group of up to eight players, also phrased as playing with up to seven friends. Those statements agree on eight total. The page mentions offline solo play and online cooperation, but we have not tested either mode or verified hosting, cross-platform play or save ownership rules.
Before scheduling a group session, confirm which friends actually have playtest access, what version they can install and which multiplayer options the current build provides. Do not buy an unrelated access key to make a group complete. If your interest is offline solo play, check the eventual release listing and current requirements rather than assume that being invited to an online test demonstrates every promised offline feature.
Separate the Early Access foundation from later ambitions
The store describes a planned foundation including survival, several biomes and Väsen, crafting and cooking tiers, treehouse building, vertical movement and cave exploration. It estimates 12–18 months in Early Access, while explicitly allowing that estimate to change. Additional biomes, creatures, building options and deeper systems are development intentions, not a dated list of delivered updates.
For a possible purchase, compare what is actually available at that time with the experience you would enjoy even if later plans change. A projected completion period is not a launch date you can calculate by adding months to a keyword trend. Pricing plans are to be communicated closer to launch; this source check did not establish a confirmed amount or a guaranteed future discount.
Read the current PC and language tables before committing
The listing gives 16 GB RAM as minimum and 32 GB recommended, DirectX 12 and 15 GB storage. We do not turn those published figures into a performance benchmark. Check the full current hardware table and your actual components before buying; a small protagonist and forest setting do not establish that an older laptop will run it well.
The page lists English audio and text support, plus interface/subtitles for French, German, Spanish from Spain and Latin America, and Brazilian Portuguese. A translated article does not establish Italian, Russian or Arabic game localization. Recheck the store if a language is essential. For an already released cooperative exploration option, see Deep Dish Dungeon; for a different limited demo, ArcheAge Chronicles. Their launch and save policies do not transfer to this project.
