Daily Red Pokémon: how to play and beat Red every day
Play Daily Red Pokémon: load your FireRed ROM, get today's random six, and beat Red's Mt. Silver team. Rules, controls and strategy.
How to play Daily Red Pokémon
To play Daily Red Pokémon, open dailyred.mt-silver.workers.dev, load your own Pokémon FireRed (USA 1.0 or 1.1) ROM, pick a trainer name and press Play. Everyone gets the same six random level 100 Pokémon from Generations 1–3, and you climb the mountain to battle Red and his Mt. Silver team.
It works like Wordle for Pokémon: one ranked battle a day. Beat Red and you join today's champions in the Hall of Fame; win day after day to build a streak. Daily Red is a free, unofficial fan project by amoi-builds.
The ROM requirement
The site doesn't include the game. You load your FireRed ROM once, from your own cartridge, and the site patches it into Daily Red on your device. The ROM stays in your browser; only a patch is sent. Every battle runs on the real FireRed engine, so moves, abilities and items behave as in Gen 3, not as in modern games or simulators.
Daily rules: what counts
- Load your ROM and choose a trainer name.
- Press Play, walk up the stairs and talk to Red.
- Your first battle of the day counts for the Hall of Fame. Afterwards, Play again lets you rematch the day's team as often as you like, but rematches don't count.
- A new team arrives every day at midnight UTC.
The project README adds that the day counts as played as soon as Red's battle starts. Closing or reloading mid-battle counts as a loss, so only start when you're ready. Before the battle you can reload freely; the team stays the same all day.
The Hall of Fame has three boards: today's champions, most wins and longest win streaks. Results are reported by each player's browser.

Red's team and how your team is built
According to the project README, Red uses his Mt. Silver team from HeartGold/SoulSilver, adapted to Gen 3 moves: Pikachu, Espeon, Snorlax, Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise, all level 100 with perfect IVs, held items and full EV spreads. His Pikachu holds a Light Ball, which doubles its Sp. Atk, and he uses the strongest trainer AI.
Your team is random but not hopeless:
- Six different species whose base stat totals add up to at least 2,700 (Red's total is 2,954).
- About 1 team in 8 gets exactly one Legendary or Mythical.
- Moves are picked at random from level-up and TM/HM learnsets, so you might see Splash or a set heavy on status moves.
- Each Pokémon holds a random battle item, and EVs go into its two best stats.
Strategy for beating Red
Before you talk to Red, open each Pokémon's summary:
- Read every move. Random sets mean a strong species can still have a weak moveset. Find your real damage dealers.
- Check held items. A Choice Band locks you into one move, so plan who carries it.
- Plan your switches. Battle Style is locked to SET, so you get no free switch when one of Red's Pokémon faints. Each switch costs a turn.
- Respect Pikachu. It's frail but hits hard with that Light Ball.
Use rematches to test a different lead or line, then bring the lesson to tomorrow's run.
