Pokémon Survivors: How to Play PokéSurvivor & Pokémon Survivor Burst
Pokémon survivors fan games explained: play PokéSurvivor free in your browser or download Pokémon Survivor Burst, with controls, features and tips.
Which Pokémon survivors game do you want?
Two free fan games answer the search "Pokémon survivors": PokéSurvivor, which you play instantly in a browser at pokesurvivor.com, and Pokémon Survivor Burst by Clessio, a download for Windows, macOS and Android on itch.io. Both are Vampire Survivors-style games where your Pokémon attacks automatically while you dodge waves of enemies.

Neither is affiliated with Nintendo, GAME FREAK or The Pokémon Company. Copycat domains exist, so use the official links above; PokéSurvivor states its only official site is pokesurvivor.com and that it will never ask you to pay.
How to play PokéSurvivor
Open pokesurvivor.com and press start. You can play as a guest straight away, but the official guide says guest progress isn't saved — create an account (username and password or Google) to keep a cloud save across devices.
Controls on PC: move with WASD or the arrow keys, switch attacks with 1–4, Q/E or by clicking the attack icon, and pause with Esc. On mobile, play in landscape: drag anywhere to move, tap an attack to switch, and use the top-right button to pause. You can also install it as an app with "Add to Home Screen".
Your Pokémon fires its active move on its own; your job is movement and choosing the right attack. Collect experience to level up, then pick one of three cards: a new move, an upgrade to a current one, or a boost to your Pokémon.
PokéSurvivor features worth knowing
- Evolving moves: at max level with the right upgrade, Ember becomes Fire Blast and Bubble becomes Surf.
- Type chart and weather: rain boosts Water and weakens Fire; sun, sand, snow and fog also appear.
- Rifts: rare portals lead to one of 18 legendary arenas, one per type.
- Gacha: a slot-machine gacha by region, paid only with tickets earned in play. Bosses and rift legendaries sometimes drop ×10 tickets. There are no ads or purchases.
- Shinies: wild shinies appear at 1 in 4096.
- Co-op: add friends by nickname and invite up to four players; you can revive a fallen teammate by standing next to them.
PokéSurvivor tips from the official guide
- Keep moving in wide circles so hordes follow you in a line.
- Switch to a move that's super effective against what's in front of you.
- Step out of ground warnings — filling circles and lines mean an attack is about to land.
- Take out Pokémon that heal or shield others first.
- Spend coins on permanent upgrades for your favourite partner rather than spreading them thin, since upgrades belong to each Pokémon.
How to play Pokémon Survivor Burst
Download Pokémon Survivor Burst from Clessio's itch.io page (name-your-own-price, so free is fine). It's available in nine languages, including English, Spanish, Japanese and Chinese, and the developer says save data is stored separately from updates, so updating won't wipe progress. There is no iOS version, as Apple doesn't allow distribution of this kind of unofficial app.
You don't start with every Pokémon. Complete specific challenges with certain Pokémon to unlock more. Builds come from passive skills, multiple attacks, evolutions, synergies and Burst Attacks — ultimate moves unique to the game. To review your picked upgrades and stats mid-run, the developer says to enable it in Options, then press W in-game.
