Enshrouded 1.0 build guide: reassess your mage and archer

Updated 3 min readBy GameRadar Editorial

Enshrouded 1.0 changes spells, wands and skills. Rebuild carefully after the reset and separate confirmed mechanics from untested best-build claims.

Enshrouded 1.0 builds need a fresh check

Enshrouded 1.0 is live, and the official combat notes make an old build checklist unreliable without review. Mage spells, wand attacks and skill placement have changed; Keen also warns that the skill tree is reset. Before leaving your base, check and spend the points the current game makes available.

This is a source-based build-planning guide, checked October 20, 2026. It does not claim a tested highest-DPS setup. The useful starting point is to identify what your character needs to do and compare the current tooltips, rather than copying an older tree node for node.

For a mage, choose a combat job before a spell list

Keen’s combat overview adds utility, crowd control, area damage and summons to the available options. Examples include Mana Drain, Entangle and summonable totems. Wands also gain a piercing heavy attack and additional attack skills. These are reasons to reassess how your weapons fit together, not proof that one new spell wins every encounter.

Our suggested approach is to choose a repeatable problem: surviving a group, handling a durable enemy or keeping resources available during a longer fight. Pick a small set of tools that addresses that problem and try them in a familiar area. Change one choice at a time. If you replace your armor, spells and skill allocation together, it becomes difficult to tell what actually improved the result.

Read each Eternal spell’s current upgrade information as well as its name. The combat notes say Eternal versions avoid spell-ammo consumption and can be upgraded, but mana costs and casting times have also been reworked. “Eternal” should not be read as a promise that every combat resource is irrelevant.

For an archer, inspect the current tree and supplies

The developer names new archer skills including Puncture, Barrage and Survival Instinct, alongside upgradeable Eternal arrows. Some published preview values remain placeholders, so we do not invent percentages or calculate a damage multiplier from them.

Before rebuilding, note where your current run fails. If you lose time repositioning, a theoretical damage increase may not solve the immediate problem. If supplies interrupt the session, examine what your available ammunition and upgrades actually change. Use the in-game descriptions for unlock requirements and final values; the purpose of the official preview is to explain the direction of the changes, not provide a complete current calculator.

Check aim-assist and targeting options after updating, particularly if you switch input devices. Adjust one setting and compare the same kind of encounter. This is a suggested evaluation process, not a measured controller-versus-mouse advantage.

Returning saves, new progression and co-op expectations

The 1.0 changelog raises the player cap to 50 and equipment upgrading to 55, and opens the Cinder’s Cradle region. Reaching a new cap is a long-term target; it does not mean a returning character should immediately rush into the new area without reviewing equipment, food and skills.

Keen’s launch FAQ says PC Early Access owners do not need to buy the PC game again. Existing saves can be converted, although the team encourages a fresh start to see the revised opening. It also says cross-platform play is not available at launch and provides no estimate for its arrival. Do not plan a mixed-platform group around an older roadmap promise.

Our recommendation is to preserve your existing progress using the platform’s supported save-management options, check the update notes and then decide whether to continue or begin anew. Starting over can be a learning choice; it is not required merely because a guide uses the word “1.0.” For a slower exploration loop built around camp preparation, see Deep Dish Dungeon.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Enshrouded 1.0 build?
We have not run comparative combat tests, so this guide does not declare a universal winner. It explains the documented changes and a controlled way to reassess your mage or archer choices.
Do I need to buy Enshrouded again after Early Access?
Keen’s launch FAQ says existing PC Early Access owners do not need to repurchase the PC version for 1.0.
Can I keep my Early Access save?
The developer says existing saves can be converted to the new format. A fresh start is encouraged to experience the revised opening, rather than required.
Is launch co-op cross-platform?
Keen’s launch FAQ says no. The team is working on it but gives no estimate, so check a newer official update before assuming support has arrived.
