MW4 campaign early access time: what is available now

MW4 campaign early access is already live, according to Call of Duty's October 16, 2026 announcement. Eligible digital Standard and Vault purchases can access the entire campaign before the October 23 full launch. As of our October 20 source check, the useful question is whether your account has the right entitlement and installation, rather than when an old countdown reaches zero.

The announcement does not give an exact clock time to reproduce here. We will not turn a calendar date into a worldwide midnight release. If your platform still shows a timer, use its current display and Activision’s updates. Campaign access and today’s DMZ early-access start are different benefits with different dates.

The official announcement includes digital pre-orders or pre-purchases of Standard Digital Edition and Vault Edition. It lists Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, Battle.net, Steam and Nintendo Switch 2. Check the edition on the store account you will actually use; a familiar game icon or a purchase on a different account does not establish that entitlement.

Before paying for anything else, review the receipt and the platform’s product description. Look for the early-access benefit and the supported platform. Do not assume that a cosmetic upgrade is necessary to play the campaign, or that every physical retail purchase carries the same digital benefit. Our source describes Standard Digital as eligible, so buying a more expensive edition solely to fix an unclear installation problem is not the first troubleshooting step.

Work through the account, entitlement and installation as separate checks. Confirm that the store recognizes your purchase, then inspect the available game content in the platform’s own library or installation interface. Read any error exactly as shown. A missing installation component, an unrecognized purchase and a service problem need different fixes.

Restarting a launcher can refresh its display, but it cannot turn an ineligible account into an eligible one. Avoid uninstalling everything or making a duplicate purchase before checking the current platform and Activision support information. We have not reproduced a specific launch error in a live client, so this is a diagnostic order rather than a guaranteed error-code fix.

On PC, also review the security requirements linked by the official game page. Do not follow a third-party “unlock” download or turn off platform protections to bypass an access screen. Use the official store client and support route for the copy you own.

The announcement describes a sixteen-mission campaign and completion rewards that become available for Multiplayer and DMZ at full launch. We have not played through and timed those missions, so we do not promise a campaign length or present a fabricated review score.

Our recommendation is to choose a difficulty you can learn on, check subtitles and controls before the opening action, and let the game teach its own mechanics before chasing completion objectives. If you want to preserve the story, avoid walkthrough titles and thumbnails until you actually need help. A first evening spent learning the controls is not wasted simply because another player claims to have finished in fewer hours.

Campaign familiarity may help you get comfortable with the game, but it is not evidence for the best equipment, routes or upgrades in Hajin. Keep the campaign’s access window, DMZ access date and full-launch rewards distinct when planning time with friends.
