MW4 DMZ early access: eligibility and your first deployment
MW4 DMZ early access starts October 20. Check eligible editions, learn the extraction loop and prepare a first deployment from the FOB.
MW4 DMZ early access: the confirmed date and editions
MW4 DMZ early access begins October 20, 2026, according to Call of Duty's official DMZ page and October FOB guide. The benefit covers digital pre-orders or pre-purchases of Standard Digital or Vault Edition. The full game launches October 23. This is the announced access window, not a report that we connected to a live server.
The official guide lists Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, Battle.net, Steam and Nintendo Switch 2. Its availability caveat allows for outages, time-zone differences and platform changes. We have not found a clock time in the sources cited here, so we do not convert the date into a fabricated midnight unlock. Check your platform’s current entitlement and installation screen before making plans.
What you do in Hajin
DMZ sends you into Hajin alone or with a squad, with hostile forces and rival Operators sharing the zone. You pursue objectives, recover equipment and decide when to extract. Getting out with useful resources matters; carrying more loot is not progress if the run ends before you secure it.
The official overview distinguishes Story Missions, Dynamic Operations, Side Ops and high-value targets. Choose an objective you can explain to the squad before deploying. Our suggested first-run target is a manageable objective and a successful return, rather than trying to clear every visible opportunity. It gives you a baseline for the next deployment without assuming a particular weapon is the launch meta.
We do not publish made-up safe routes through the Prison, Military Base or other named regions. Knowing that a place exists does not establish its current patrols, extraction availability or a reliable loot spawn.
Prepare in the Forward Operating Base
The FOB is the between-run hub. The official tour describes Active Duty Operators, Orders, Stash/Loadout, a firing range and stations that unlock through progression. At your first visit, check your Operator, read your Order and inspect what you are actually carrying. Use the firing range to assess a weapon and optic before risking equipment in Hajin.
Think of preparation as two checks. First, can this loadout support the objective you selected? Second, are you carrying something you would rather leave behind? The point is to make the risk deliberate, not to adopt a rigid loadout list from a different DMZ release. After returning, review your inventory before immediately queueing again.
Operator progression and overall DMZ progression are separate in the official FOB guide. Keep that distinction in mind when a new station or an individual Operator’s improvement becomes available. Do not assume that changing an Operator is merely changing an outfit.
A simple squad plan that remains useful after launch
Agree on a main objective, a signal to leave and how you will handle an unexpected encounter. A player looking for combat and a player protecting mission resources can make opposite decisions at the same doorway. Resolve that before the deployment rather than relying on a universally “correct” level of aggression.
After the run, identify one reason it succeeded or failed. Did you leave too late, separate from the squad or bring equipment that did not fit the task? Change one preparation choice and compare the next attempt. This is planning advice based on the documented extraction loop, not a hands-on claim about a winning route.
Campaign access is a separate schedule. Our MW4 campaign early-access guide explains that October 16 start and how to check the relevant edition. Neither date should be mistaken for the October 23 full launch.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need Vault Edition for MW4 DMZ early access?
- No. The official guide includes Standard Digital and Vault digital pre-orders or pre-purchases. Check the benefit on your platform’s listing; do not assume a physical purchase has identical early-access eligibility.
- Is DMZ early access the same as campaign early access?
- No. The announced campaign start is October 16, while DMZ starts October 20. Both precede the October 23 full launch.
- Can I play MW4 DMZ solo?
- Yes, the official DMZ overview supports solo or squad deployments. Solo play still takes place in a PvPvE environment; it is not a promise of a private offline zone.
