Cork7 guide: controls, clean landings and your first ski run

Updated 3 min readBy GameRadar Editorial

Start Cork7 with the developer’s controls, distinguish spins from air roll, understand scoring and replays, and troubleshoot without deleting local saves.

Start with one controlled run

Cork7 is a freestyle skiing game available in the browser. The developer’s guide recommends starting simply: ride the park, learn a few takeoffs and then add rotation. You can select Solo or Multiplayer, change your kit in the Locker and use RIDE to choose a park. This article follows the published controls, not a completed run or a measured high-score strategy.

For a first session, use Solo to remove the need to coordinate a room. Take the gondola, or use F to skip its journey, then practise approaching one kicker. Choosing a repeatable approach makes it easier to tell whether a later change came from your speed, timing or rotation. We do not claim a particular park is easiest without testing it.

Know what the keys do on snow and in the air

A and D carve on snow and spin in the air. W is pole or tuck on snow and frontflip in the air; S brakes on snow and starts a backflip in the air. The horizontal arrow keys add air roll. The same key therefore changes meaning with the situation, so do not interpret every press as a ground steering input.

Hold Space before the lip and release to add pop. The guide says kickers can also launch you without a manual jump. Start with a straight takeoff and landing before holding several rotation inputs together. Hold R for two seconds to restart a run; Esc or P opens the menu or pause controls. Check Settings → Controls if your bindings differ from these defaults.

Add a cork only after learning the landing

The developer describes A or D together with S at takeoff for a cork, with W for a bio, or with a horizontal arrow for a flatspin. These combinations should begin together at the lip: adding a spin later changes the flip rather than reproducing the same setup. The displayed trick name follows completed movement, not merely the buttons held.

Shift is the mute grab, Q the tail grab and E the Japan grab. Release the grab and rotation in time to prepare for landing. Our suggested progression is one additional input at a time, then reviewing the replay. It avoids confusing several simultaneous changes with a single reliable technique. This is a learning routine, not an assurance that a named trick will always be awarded.

Understand why a shorter line can beat a crash

The published scoring examples give a 360 spin 1,500 points and a 720 spin 6,000 before further modifiers. Grabs, landing quality, linked tricks and repetition affect the outcome. A clean landing earns an additional 450 and fifteen percent of the line; a crash loses the line. Repeating the same trick reduces its value.

That makes finishing important. Adding rotation without leaving time to align the skis can trade a bankable line for no line at all. Compare the result of a completed attempt before deciding that more turns are automatically better. These are the guide’s stated mechanics, not score totals we independently reproduced. If the game’s current result screen differs, keep its breakdown rather than forcing an old example onto it.

Replays, controllers and safe performance checks

The guide says the latest five runs are saved automatically in the current browser, with Save replay available at the finish for a favourite. Replays can be opened and exported as video rendered on your device. Local browser storage is therefore relevant: do not clear it as your first response to a loading problem or assume a replay automatically follows you to another device.

Xbox and PlayStation controllers are supported, and pressing a button lets the browser detect the controller. For loading or frame-rate problems, the developer recommends an up-to-date browser with WebGL 2, Reload game on the loading screen and the Performance graphics option. A keyboard on a computer is recommended; touch controls exist, with device-dependent performance. For another game whose keyboard roles need careful separation, see Backseat Rally.

Frequently asked questions

Does Cork7 require an unofficial download?
No. The publisher offers a browser game. Use its own site and guide; this article does not link download mirrors or claim that a third-party port is authorized.
Why does a trick name differ from the input I tried?
The guide says completed movement determines the name. Takeoff timing and combinations matter; pressing a button associated with a cork does not by itself guarantee one.
Can I change the controls?
Yes. The developer names Settings → Controls for keyboard and controller bindings. Verify your current mapping before treating a default-key guide as a fault diagnosis.
Will clearing browser data fix a slow game?
Do not start there: it can affect local replays. First use the documented reload and graphics options, check browser support and preserve local data. We have not tested save recovery.
